Pakistan cricket team head coach, Dav Whatmore, replied to fans on twitter to quash all suggestions of any rift with his skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq. This was amid Pakistani media reporting that Whatmore along with Mohammad Hafeez are at loggerheads with the captain.

Apart from media groups, former chairman Ijaz Butt also took a dig at Whatmore and his reported ‘game plan’ against Misbah. When asked about a fan about Butt’s comments, Whatmore tweeted and clarified by saying “@dfwhatmore: I have never been disloyal to any of my players especially the captain.” He then added “@dfwhatmore: He is an astute leader. Its a pleasure 2 work with him as an individual that has the best interests of Pak cricket at all times!”

Whatmore has always seemed to have been a fan of the calmness off Misbah and his ability to never feel fazed in any situation. He went further on twitter and added “@dfwhatmore: He has a consistent temperament whether in success or failure. This is a big advantage especially when it comes to leadership.”

The media has also reported rifts off Whatmore and a few players. There has been suggestions that he has ousted players like Razzaq on personal preference which he refuted by saying “@dfwhatmore: I am not against anyone on the team. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses & collectively selectors make own decisions.”

In other news, Whatmore said the talks for the final 15 for the Champions Trophy were well under way and once the squad is finalized he will work with the players to put on a good show in England. He also said that the team has learn’t with their performance in South Africa and hope to rectify their mistakes.
